Design Your Modern Home with Platform Storage Beds

There are many different types of bedroom furniture that help you create more space efficiency while maintaining an inviting look. Platform storage beds are good examples of these types of fixtures. These beds include additional storage space, built right into the bed frame. Like any other type of furniture, they too have their own pros and cons:

  • Space efficiency – Storage beds help you transform the empty space beneath the mattress into a functional storage area. Not only do you maximize your bed space, you also free up areas where you would originally keep bulky cabinets and drawers.
  • Neat bedroom – Because of all the free space available, you have a cleaner-looking, not to mention, a truly neater room, as you do away with the dust bunnies that box springs and conventional beds collect. Cleaning time is also reduced, because there will likely be less clutter.
  • Specialized designs – Storage beds come in a wide range of interesting and quite impressive designs. Wooden styles with solid construction offer a particular visual appeal and there are plenty of contemporary and more traditional designs to match various bedroom plans.
  • Difficult to transport – On the flip side, storage beds are terribly hard to move and transport, which can be problematic for transient dwellers. Conventional beds with simple bed frame configurations are a lot easier to disassemble and transport, making them a better choice for people who tend to move between homes a lot.
  • Extra hardware – With the amount of additional hardware that have to be maintained, you can have eventual problems when it comes to replacing handles, knobs, or hinges that have fallen off, become damaged, or loosened.
  • High cost – Storage beds often come with hefty price tags. They are much more expensive than typical bed frames, although you may find the extra cost quite worth it if you absolutely need the built-in storage space.
